Living in the Shadow of Majestic Twelve

Sherry Lee Malin - © 2002

Back in the 1940's, New Mexico was the center of America's major postwar defense research in atomic weapons, radar electronics, rocketry, and missile development. During this period, New Mexico also reported more UFO sightings than any other state in the union. Extraterrestrial intelligences could be expected to systematically engage in the observation of areas exhibiting high levels of scientific and technological advancements.

During this time, my father worked at the White Sands Proving Grounds in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He helped carry out top-level research on the only captured German V-2 rockets in existence. He spent several years there, retiring after serving thirty-seven years in the Navy. When I was a child, my dad told several war stories, and none of them were as strange and fascinating as the ones about White Sands.

One time, while one of the rockets was being launched, two unidentified flying objects appeared along side the rocket. My father saw them both on radar, and visually from where he was. He saw what appeared to be two silvery discs circling the rocket. He observed them for several minutes, before they suddenly turned on their sides, and zoomed off over the Jarilla mountain range. Meanwhile, the radar equipment went haywire and locked in on the flying saucers as they quickly vanished from the radar screen, causing the men to loose track of the rocket. Then, as a direct result of the interference of these flying saucers, the rocket crashed into a cemetery in Juarez, Mexico. My dad even told me that they tried shooting missiles at the flying saucers on separate occasions, and that he had seen these flying saucers several times, circling the V-2 rockets when they were launched at White Sands. The mysterious silvery discs became a common nuisance at White Sands Proving Grounds. My dad, as well as, countless other military personnel, including pilots, and radar controllers reported these events to the officials in command of the White Sands project. Eventually, the word was sent out to shut the men up at all costs, for the sake of national security.

My father's name and rank at the time of these UFO sightings was Sergeant Major Lloyd Eugene Camp. He started working at White Sands Proving Grounds around 1947, and he was twenty-nine years old at the time he witnessed these events. My dad, mom, and brother also saw one of these flying saucers while they were traveling through the White Sands desert one evening during the summer of 1947. I have the full details of the accounts of all three of them about their shared sighting of what they described to me as "like a huge silvery pie pan turned upside down", in the sky hovering over the road up ahead of them. They witnessed this object just flip over on it's side, and quickly disappear into the sky. My family would simply not talk about the things they saw, and experienced, during the time my dad worked out at White Sands, because they said "no one would ever believe them". I have heard these same words spoken to me so many times from other people who have seen UFO's, and had strange experiences with them, myself included.

My father was a very courageous, honorable man, and he served his country well. Now, in honor of my father, and the countless other military personnel, and others who witnessed these strange events at White Sands Proving Grounds, I'm giving this information to all the people out there who want to know the truth. Please, if any of you who read this story, and have also been witnesses to any of these events at White Sands, and might have known my father while he was there, please contact me. Please, come out and tell the truth! I need your help to get this information out to the people.

Our government has continued for over fifty years to withhold valuable UFO documents and information from the public, under the stipulation of national security. This is a poor excuse for not releasing documents and reports that date back to over fifty years ago. The Freedom of Information Act guarantees us free access to such information. Why would such information jeopardize our national security? Could it be that some of these documents tell us of a secret cover-up by the government about the fact that they have in their possession one of these crashed flying saucers, as well as the occupants of that craft? My father told me that he remembered a group of men being sent out from White Sands to help pack up the crashed ship at Roswell, New Mexico. I believe my father was telling me the truth. The time has come that it cannot, and must not, be hidden any longer. The truth about UFO's has been kept secret for well over fifty years now. We the people of this country have a right to know the truth, and we do not want to be lied to any longer! Please, allow this information to finally be released...

My e-mail address is sherrymalin@hotmail.com in case anyone would like to contact me. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to share this information with you.

Here is an old photograph of my brother playing with two little girls on the base at White Sands. My mom told me that one of the little girls last name was Miller. Mom also told me that one of my dad's friends name was Mac McGuire, and they worked with each other at White Sands....Sherry Malin Web owner note...Please note black object in sky above the children. Having looked at the object under a magnifying glass it appears to be either one of two things....a UFO-type object similar to what some might call a beam ship, or it is a delta wing aircraft. The date this photo was taken was 1947.
