There is no doubt that sightings are increasing at an astounding rate… I even had one in August. I did not report it though. I have been waiting to see if someone else reports something similar. They haven’t… Being an abductee I know what the inside and outside of an ET Craft looks like, but as for your typical UFO sightings I have had only two, and this one being my second…

It was Aug. 27, 2003 here in South Florida where I live in Miramar (a few miles north of Miami). About 9pm I walked outside onto the verandah off the 2nd floor bedroom to smoke a cig. This verandah along with the back of my home faces due west. My neighborhood is the last one on the left off of Miramar Pkwy. Just past my neighborhood going west is a state wildlife area for about 2 or 3 miles (I can walk from my home to the start of this wildlife area in about 10 minutes max), then there is a 4 lane divided road (Hwy 27), then there is the start of the federally protected Everglades. Keep going west from my home, through the Everglades and you eventually run into the Gulf of Mexico. So looking west from my home one sees only darkness in the nighttime sky. Planes flying in from the West or northwest are heading to either FT. Lauderdale/Hollywood airport or the Miami airport and usually fly toward my home/neighborhood before veering off. Planes heading for Miami veer off to my left, southeast, while the ones heading to FT. Lauderdale/Hollywood veer right, directly east. They do this only a few miles away from the western part of my neighborhood. From a far distance I can begin to see the planes as little specks of light, and as they get closer you begin to more clearly the bright headlight looking landing lights. Watching these planes fly in every night, I have gotten fairly good at calculating distance from my neighborhood and by the flight patterns which ones are going to veer off to which airport. I can also tell by the brightness of the landing lights which one is closest and furthest away…

On this particular night, after lighting my cig, I looked west and saw three objects in the sky. Two were easily identified as being planes. The landing lights on the one on the left indicated this plane was the closest to me. Both flight patterns were indicating a FT. Lauderdale/Hollywood destination. The separation distance I calculated was at least 40 miles between the two planes. The distance from me to the first plane was around 30 miles which would put the second plane some 70 miles away. Please note that I am on the verandah of the second floor looking out over a very dark sky, and very flat land over the Everglades and on this night visibility was excellent…

Nothing surprising so far, but located width wise between the two planes was a brilliant white glowing, crescent shaped object. This object in its crescent shape tapered down from the middle to each end in defined points. The two points were located at about the 1 o’clock position and the 7 o’clock position. In the center of this crescent shape, at the 4 o’clock position was a break. This break consisted of a solid dark area (black), much darker than the normal nighttime sky. The spread distance between the two defined points was equal to the widest spread of my thumb and first finger on the right hand, 7 inches at arms length. The break in the middle equaled about 1/2 inch distance at arms length. Despite this break, both sides of the crescent were perfectly symmetrical with each other. Using my clinched fist as a height measurement, 5 degrees from top to bottom at arms length, I calculated the height degree to be around 12 degrees above the ground horizon, not from the top of any homes or trees I could see. I calculated the object to be around 40 to 50 miles away from me, which would have put this object around center between the two approaching planes in distance from me. From my simple calculations, it would seem that this object from point to point had to be several hundred feet across. I surmised that the nearest plane to me might not have been able to see this object unless it was being picked up on their radar or by turning around and seeing it visually, but the furthest plane from me could not have missed seeing it…

I continued to watch the two planes for about 15 minutes, and the object itself for 20 minutes. The object maintained its shape, size and distance for about 15 minutes of this time frame. The object did not move until the last plane had made it turn to the East toward the FT. Lauderdale/Hollywood airport. Never once did I hear a sound from the crescent shaped object, but on this quite night in south Florida where I live, which is the norm, I could hear the engines from the plane as the neared and even veered off to the East. After the last plane had made its turn, the object slowly moved west. As it continued westward, the shape and brilliance never changed but the size did… smaller. After 20 minutes the object simply became to small for me to see anymore even with binoculars…

Let me note here and now that the crescent shape object I saw was not the crescent shape of the moon which was in its new moon phase during this date. The moon at this time of night on the date I witnessed this object was in its rising phase to the East. My sighting took place directly west over the Everglades. The clouds for this date were thin, very broken and sparse. An hour after my sighting I verified the position of the moon still rising in the East…

As is my custom, I had a pair of binoculars in one of the chairs on the verandah which I used to look at both the object and the planes. There was no doubt that I was looking at a very real and structured object. The brilliant white light was very defined along all the edges of the object. The object seemed to have much more structure than just the brilliant white giving the crescent shape to the object. Extending inward from the crescent shape, this inside area seemed to be same type of blackness as was the break. This is why I assume that there was more structure area to the object. If my memory serves me correctly, there is one illustration from the Kenneth Arnold 1947 sighting that seem to closely resemble the full structure area of the object I witnessed. Even though I own three 35 mm cameras, a 2.0 digital camera and a VHS-C camcorder, I did not get anything on film or tape. Since this was only my second typical UFO sighting, I did not want to leave and retrieve them… I know, I know… stupid as hell and a mistake that will never happen again…

A side note. A week later a 9 year old young lady who lives next to me came to my door. She wanted to tell me something in private. She shared a sighting that she just witnessed about 4 hours before. She, her younger sister, mother and father were going to the movies and was caught in a small traffic jam not far from our homes. She said as they waited she noticed a crescent shaped object in the western sky. The time was near 6pm. She said that this object just sat in the sky. I pointed out the moon which was in the new crescent phase and asked her if this is what she saw. She said no, and pointed west to where she saw her object. It is interesting to note that the area where the traffic jam was located and where she saw the object, was an area that had just experienced a significant power failure and covered a fairly large area. She said that they got through the traffic jam a few minutes later and the object was still in the sky.
