Alpha and Omega - Part 8

Our researchers have been busy. Eden has two primary references that might be relevant to our Adam and Eve. The first of course is Biblical, and the Garden of Eden was the world into which God placed Adam and Eve. They sinned and were cast out into the real world.
While most of us here believe in God, it seems preposterous to assume that Garden of Eden still exists, and that any God would play such a cruel trick on the remnants of humanity. But further research has exposed another Eden. This one was funded by a very wealthy group of backers in the late 20th century, and involved cloning research, in vitro fertilization and cryogenics.
Scientists by then had already cloned sheep and cats and were expanding their efforts in attempts to clone human beings. Could it be possible that such efforts had succeeded? Was there a repository of DNA somewhere that could possibly account for our newest residents?
Even if that is the case, we don't know how they had arrived in our tunnel, and who their mysterious god is.
Strangely enough, the person in charge of EDEN was also very religious. His name was Charles Lawson. On an intellectual level he was capable of developing the theories to successfully clone animals, at the very least, and to combine that with the technology to actualize his theories. From everything we can determine his personal philosophy indicated that he wanted to prove that man was made in the image of God, and while he didn't believe in a genetically engineered superior race his early efforts in animal cloning showed a propensity towards emphasizing certain characteristics.
Among those were intelligence, physical beauty and strength.
Our computer experts have had 150 years to develop their abilities beyond what the 21st century was used to. Our programmers are capable of gaining access to even the most guarded system. And we have set them on the path of investigating this matter. If indeed Lawson put in place such a facility it would have to be monitored by computers. If they are out there, we will find them.
