Alpha and Omega - Part 16

It is my job, if you would, to relate the events of the past and present; to record them and use them to analyze our actions now on future events. It is at times very painful; especially in those periods when I review the days immediately following Armageddon. The urge to survive was incredibly intense; particularly with mothers begging for help for their children.

The lessons I have learned in the interim and which I hope to teach and pass on are also intense. Mankind was responsible for this destruction. Mankind in seeking national and individual power was not capable of using any judgment to protect civilization and the resources of the planet. A desire to possess wealth and that power resulted in near termination of our species not to mention all others on the planet.

I do not know if the lessons we have learned will last beyond our necessary confinement here. I would like to believe that it is possible to learn from this experience. But circumstances here have indicated that a desire to lead, and control are inherent in our species.

It took thousands of years to build civilization to its former glory. And from the beginning of recorded history civilizations had grown and collapsed; occasionally as a result of catastrophic natural causes but far more often as the result of wars. It only took 60 years for the world to forget WW II. It only took 4 days to destroy the world.
